Centennial, Colo. — July 7, 2016 — AlloSource®, one of the nation’s largest providers of cartilage, cellular, bone, skin and soft-tissue allografts for use in surgical procedures and wound care to advance patient healing, today announced that it received Orthopedics This Week’s first annual Sports Medicine Award for its fresh cartilage allograft, ProChondrix®.
The First Annual Sports Medicine Award recognizes engineering excellence, innovation and advancement of sports medicine. Orthopedics This Week presented awards in three technology categories: Diagnostic/Monitoring/Fitness Measurement, Rehabilitation, and Surgical Implants and Instruments. ProChondrix received an award in the Surgical Implant and Instrument category.
“ProChondrix was inspired by both our tissue donors and the patients who need it,” said AlloSource Vice President of Strategy, Growth and Development, Peter Stevens, PhD. “We are committed to creating new allograft solutions like ProChondrix and receiving this award validates all our hard work in developing new technologies.”
This patented, fresh cartilage allograft inherently matches the biomechanical and biochemical properties of normal hyaline cartilage, restoring the articular cartilage surface, relieving patient symptoms and improving function. AlloSource recently launched a Reimbursement Hotline dedicated to assisting customers and providing information on coding options, coverage access and reimbursement.
Presented by Orthopedics This Week, the Sports Medicine Awards bring increased recognition to exemplary and innovative sports surgery and technology products, as well as the engineering teams and inventors who create them. Awards will be presented at the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine in Colorado Springs, Colorado, July 7-10, 2016.
AlloSource is the only company to win an Orthopedics This Week award in both the Spine category (for AlloStem® Cellular Bone Allograft in 2011), as well as in the Sports Medicine category. Both were given in the inaugural year the award was created.
